Today is fairly typical. It is very busy (i.e. 3 meetings with students, 1 staff meeting, teach a Bible Study, lead a class on mentoring, answer emails, return phone calls, and take care of several administrative, budget and leadership issues along the way). Yesterday's work day ended at 8:15 PM, today's started at 7:30 and I'll cap it off with a basketball game that begins at 8:30 tonight.
But I'm not complaining. I love what I get to do. But experience has taught me the need for oasis. There has to be some time in the day where I drink. Today that came in two places.
First, as always or most always, I read the scripture, talk to God, hear from His Spirit and find refreshment. Secondly, I hung out with Senior Adults. I love them so much. They are so encouraging, so delightful. I taught them a Bible Study but the greatest joy was the fun bantering that went on over singing, etc... They were just so cool.
I was refreshed. You see, I know that they have my back. That 40-50 people pray for me, for university students, for my family. They genuinely love me... not for what I do, but for who God has made me.
So, today I drank from the Oasis of wisdom, kindness, and love.
